Twelve 2021 Regular Season games to be broadcast on Union Broadcasting Stations
KANSAS CITY (June 4, 2021) – Kansas City NWSL today announced a partnership with locally-owned and operated Union Broadcasting, Inc. The collaboration includes distribution of 12 Kansas City NWSL matches on its stations, as well as streaming online and via the station’s app, during the 2021 NWSL regular season.
“Union Broadcasting is a leader in sports coverage in Kansas City. We’re thrilled to enter this collaborative partnership that will provide another way for our incredible fanbase to tune in and listen to our matches,” said Chief Operating Officer Amber Cox. “The leadership at Union is committed to not only broadcasting our matches, but providing comprehensive coverage of the team leading up to and after each match, as well as serving as a fantastic promotional partner for events like watch parties and on-site remotes at home matches.”
Teaming up to deliver Kansas City NWSL matches to fans are Aly Trost and Brad Porter. Trost will provide color commentary, while Porter will cover play-by-play duties. Trost currently hosts Kickoff with Aly Trost on Saturday mornings on 810-WHB in addition to working with Kansas City NWSL as the team’s reporter and host. Porter brings 18 years of experience to the role, including work in MLS, MLB and NWSL.
Just over 180 days ago, women’s professional soccer made its return to Kansas City. Led by Owners Angie Long, Chris Long and Brittany Matthews, Kansas City NWSL has enjoyed tremendous community and fan support. Last Wednesday, under the direction of Head Coach Huw Williams, the Club played its inaugural regular season home opener in front of over 5,000 fans at Legends Field.
“Our team at Union Broadcasting is thrilled to partner with KC NWSL for their inaugural season,” said Chief Operating Officer Alok Srivastava. “We look forward to bringing the passionate soccer fans of Kansas City closer to the action through this exciting partnership and are glad to have women’s professional soccer back thanks to the hard work and dedication of KC NWSL’s ownership group.”
The partnership kicked off last Sunday, with the team’s match vs. the Orlando Pride airing on 810-WHB. KC NWSL can once again be found on 810-WHB on Sunday, June 6 when the squad takes on the Houston Dash at 1 p.m. CT at Legends Field. The remaining 10 matches will air on 810-WHB or ESPN Kansas City.
