On December 6, 2020 the NWSL announced the decision to award an expansion franchise to Kansas City. In the year following, world-class women’s soccer was brought to the Heartland, where KC Current completed its Inaugural Season in front of the world’s best sports fans.
Now, we’re ready for the next chapter. With a new crest to unite us, a best-in-class training facility and one of the first stadiums built specifically for a women’s sports team, KC Current is ready to write the next chapter with help from those that call our city home.
When Angie Long, Chris Long and Brittany Mahomes brought this NWSL franchise to Kansas City, they were clear in their commitment to do it right - for the players and for the city. The Kansas City Current has an unwavering commitment to become the best women’s football club in the world. Through brave actions, we are raising the bar for our players, our fans, and our community.
With fierce ambition, player power and pride for this city, we’re on a mission to do things this sport has never seen. We are a river, a Current, with a rushing, relentless momentum.
