The Kansas City Current and midfielder Addie McCain have agreed to mutually part ways. With her contract set to expire at the end of the year, McCain’s rights were distributed through Tuesday’s waiver wire.
McCain was drafted as the 17th overall pick in the 2021 NWSL draft out of Texas A&M University. She started three matches for the Current in 2022 with 231 minutes played in the regular season. She also scored the team’s first goal in the 2022 Challenge Cup for a 1-1 draw with Racing Louisville FC. The club thanks Addie for all of her contributions to a team that is raising the bar in women’s soccer.
The Current now has 22 players under contract for the 2023 season.
