Kansas City Current Partners with KC Black Owned for Black History Month

In honor of Black History Month, Kansas City Current has partnered with KC Black Owned, an organization founded to highlight and support Black-owned businesses in Kansas City.

This Black History Month, as part of KC Black Owned partnership with KC Current, Chelsey M. introduced KC Current players to three Black-owned businesses in Kansas City: Ruby Jean’s Kitchen & Juicery, Soirée Steak & Oyster House and Fannie’s West African Cuisine. In video features released on KC Current social media channels throughout the month of February, Chelsey and KC Current players get a taste of each restaurant, while learning more about the owners, their story and the importance of supporting Black-owned businesses in Kansas City.

“While KC Black Owned and KC Current may be new to the community, we are both striving to make a positive impact on the city we love,” Chelsey said.

Started by Chelsey in July 2020, the online directory of Black-owned businesses in Kansas City tops over 300 businesses. Spanning across 12 categories – from Health to Entertainment, Food to Fashion – website and social media users are quickly and easily connected to Black-owned businesses in Kansas City.
