Kansas City Current Hosts CF Monterrey in club’s first International friendly, presented by Bud Light

The Kansas City Current take the field at home on Wednesday night for the club’s first ever international friendly, hosting Liga MX Femenil powerhouse CF Monterrey, presented by Bud Light. Fans can stream the game via the KC Current App, where Nick Vasos and Jillian Carroll Letrinko will be on the call, with Hannah Bassman on the sidelines. The KC Current App will also provide a Spanish audio stream featuring Adan Manzano and Itala Martinez.

The Kansas City Current continue to make headlines around the globe with updates on the world’s first stadium purpose-built for a professional women’s soccer team. On the pitch, the Current has five countries being represented on the club’s roster, including three players who represented their home countries in the 2023 FIFA World Cup.

CF Monterrey are one of the most successful teams in Mexico and are based in Guadalupe, Nuevo León, a city just outside Monterrey. A founding member of Liga MX Femenil, Las Rayadas won the Apertura (first tournament) in 2019 and the Grita México tournament in 2021. The team has never finished lower than fifth place since 2017.

CELEBRATING HISPANIC HERITAGE
Fans can look forward to a celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month on Wednesday night, with live music on Mazuma Plaza ahead of the match, an exclusive shirt to honor the month that is only available at the game and more. The Current’s traditional “KC Baby” chant will be led by Kansas City Missouri Councilman Crispin Rea, the first Latino member elected to the city council in 30 years.

The Community Champion of the Match will be the Latino Arts Foundation, a nonprofit organization created to bring forth the fiercely authentic voice of underrepresented artists through their diverse stories, cultures and beliefs.

The Hometown Hero, presented by Midwest Ford, will be Gina Coronado from Guadalupe Centers, the longest continuously operating agency serving Latinos in the United States.
