Kansas City Current goalkeeper AD Franch was chosen for the Week Sixteen NWSL Deloitte US Impact Save of the Week, as voted on by fans. Franch’s diving save in the 32nd minute spurred the Current on to score three unanswered goals and secure a 3-1 victory over the Houston Dash Saturday. This is the Kansas native’s third recognition for Save of the Week for Kansas City, and her first in 2023. This week the Kansas City Current has been awarded both NWSL Bud light Player of the Week for Kristen Hamilton and Deloitte US Impact Save of the Week for Franch.

Franch made three integral saves on Saturday, preventing the Dash from regaining the upper hand against the Current, who outrank Houston in the UKG Challenge Cup Central Division. Prepared to pounce, Franch anticipated the shot from Houston, taken from the outskirts of the goal box. Launching over the defense and on target to sneak in the upper right corner of the net, the ball sailed to a diving Franch. The goalkeeper sprang back with an arm extended upwards to knock the shot up and over the goal for a crucial save.
For her efforts, Franch’s save keeps the Current in the running for the 2023 UKG Challenge Cup playoffs as they take a run at first place in the Central Division. Next, she and the team will leave home to face the Red Stars in Bridgeview, Illinois on Saturday at 7 p.m. CT. Dave Borchardt and Jillian Carroll Letrinko will have all the action on KC Current Radio for fans in the Kansas City area, while Jamie Watson and Gary Bailey call the action nationally on Paramount+.
