This will be a return to Kansas City for Katelyn Rowland. The goalkeeper was originally selected with the 17th overall pick in the 2015 NWSL Draft by then-FC Kansas City General Manager Huw Williams. Rowland played three games for Kansas City and earned a shutout in her first start, one of only five goalkeepers to do so in NWSL history. 

She was traded to the Western New York Flash midway through the 2016 season. Like Hamilton, she was a vital member of the 2016, 2018 and 2019 NWSL Championships for Western New York/North Carolina.

Rowland entered the 2021 season with the second-best all-time regular season goals against average (1.00), fifth most regular season shutouts (17), and the most all-time playoff goals against average (0.33).
