Kansas City Current co-founder and owner Angie Long was named to The Business Journal’s Bizwomen 100. This prestigious national list recognizes one hundred women who are leading in their local business communities, from entrepreneurs to Fortune 500 CEOs.
“It is an incredible honor to be highlighted in this national recognition of top businesswomen impacting their communities,” said Angie Long. “I love our region, my hometown and I plan for the Kansas City Current to continue being a massive force driving our community forward.”
As a former All-American and 2x National Champion collegiate athlete, Angie has spent her entire life advocating for women’s sports. Her commitment to ensure equal opportunities for women was just one of the driving factors behind bringing a National Women’s Soccer League team to Kansas City. Angie has a clear vision of not only establishing the best women’s soccer club in the world, but also having the Kansas City Current serve as a model for all of women’s sports. Believing, of course, that elite women athletes deserve elite facilities of their own, Angie has led trailblazing investments with the first purpose-built training complex for a women’s professional tea, which opened in June 2022, as well as the KC Current Stadium, which will open in 2024 on the Berkeley Riverfront in downtown KC.
In addition to her work with the Current, Angie is a trailblazer in the world of credit-related asset management, having dedicated her entire career to portfolio management and trading. She is the Chief Investment Officer at Palmer Square Capital Management, a well-known global investment firm managing $26 billion in assets. Prior to that, she spent more than a decade working on Wall Street and was named Managing Director of JPMorgan Chase & Co. at age 29. She held many senior roles there, including Deputy Head of North America Credit Trading.
