Bia Zaneratto joined the Kansas City Current in January 2024 after transferring from Brazilian Serie A1 club Palmeiras. She made an immediate impact in her debut NWSL season, scoring five goals and providing four assists in 16 appearances. She was named the NWSL’s Player of the Month and landed on the NWSL’s Best XI of the Month for March/April 2024 after contributing four goals and three assists in that span.
Zaneratto had a prolific club career prior to joining the NWSL. She began her professional career at the age of 13, signing with Ferroviária in Brazil before transferring to Santos in 2010. She then went to Incheon Hyundai Steel Red Angels in South Korea, scoring 76 goals in 103 matches and leading them to seven consecutive WK League titles from 2013-19. She scored seven goals in nine games for Wuhan Jianghan University F.C. in the Chinese Women’s Super League in 2020 before returning to Brazil on loan with Palmeiras. After two seasons on loan, her transfer to Palmeiras became permanent in 2022, coinciding with her appointment as team captain. She guided Palmeiras to the 2022 Copa Libertadores Femenina title.
Internationally, Zaneratto has been a mainstay for the Brazilian Women's National Team. She first hit the world stage at the age of 14 at the 2008 FIFA U-17 World Cup as the youngest player on the roster. She began her senior career three years later with her first cap coming in a 3-0 friendly win over Chile in 2011. She has 103 appearances for Brazil with 36 goals. She is a veteran of four FIFA World Cups (2011, 2015, 2019, 2023) and two Olympic games (2016, 2020). She has one World Cup goal and three Olympic goals.
