The National Women’s Soccer League announced today the full schedule for the upcoming 2022 regular season. The Kansas City Current travel to Providence Park to take on the Portland Thorns on Saturday, April 30. They return to Kansas City in Week 2 for their regular season home opener against the Houston Dash on May 8.
Fans can look forward to a streak of four home games beginning May 30 against Racing Louisville FC. The Current will also host San Diego Wave FC in their first season, along with NY/NJ Gotham FC and the Chicago Red Stars. Kansas City’s final home game will see the Current take on the defending champions, the Washington Spirit.
The league’s 10th anniversary season includes 12 teams set to compete in a single table, 22-match regular season with 11 home games and 11 away games per club.
As part of the league’s balanced framework for 2022, a significantly smaller number of contests have been scheduled during FIFA windows, allowing for fewer conflicts for the league’s most accomplished players who compete with both club and country.
The regular season concludes Sunday, October 2. Six teams will qualify for the NWSL playoffs, with the top two seeds receiving a first-round bye. The 2022 campaign will end with the NWSL Championship on October 29.
The 2022 regular season will air across The CBS Television Network and CBS Sports Network and stream live on Paramount+. Twitch, the home for all internationally streamed matches, will also stream select games in the United States. National broadcast details for regular season, as well as the Current’s local television schedule, will be shared in the coming weeks.
