Kansas City Current Forward Haley Hopkins Named NWSL Player of the Month for October/November

KANSAS CITY (Nov. 5, 2026) — Kansas City Current forward Haley Hopkins has been named the NWSL Player of the Month for October/November, the league announced Thursday afternoon. During the Current’s ongoing five-match winning streak, Hopkins recorded four goals and one assist across Kansas City’s last four matches of the regular season.

This is the first time Hopkins has been named NWSL Player of the Month in her four-year professional career. She is the second Current player to receive the monthly honor in 2026, joining fellow forward Temwa Chawinga who took home the honor in May.

On Oct. 3, Hopkins steered home the equalizing goal in the Current’s home match against Bay FC, then set up what ultimately stood as the match-winner from forward/midfielder Debinha in a 5-1 Kansas City victory. Two Saturdays later, Hopkins netted a crucial brace as the Current earned a 2-0 road victory at Utah.

To close out the NWSL regular season, Hopkins scored the Current’s second goal in a 2-0 road victory over Racing Louisville FC. Her well-placed header marked her career-high 12th goal of the season and Kansas City’s 54th goal of the regular season — tied for the most in the NWSL in 2026 as well as the second-highest single season total in league history.

Hopkins appeared in all 30 regular season contests for the Current, starting 19, and finished the regular season tied with Chawinga for the team scoring lead. Hopkins’ (and Chawinga’s) tally of 12 regular season goals was the fourth-highest total in the NWSL this season. She set career highs for goals (12), assists (four) and minutes played (1,929) during the regular season. Hopkins also made her 50th regular season appearance for the Current on Nov. 1, becoming the 15th player in club history to reach the milestone.

The NWSL Player of the Month is selected each month of the regular season by the NWSL Media Association, a collection of writers that cover the league on a consistent basis, and broadcast talent. Awards for the months of October and November are based on performances during the regular season matches.

On Saturday, the No. 4 seed KC Current hosts fifth-seeded Angel City FC in the quarterfinal round of the 2026 NWSL Playoffs, presented by Google Pixel, at CPKC Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 11 a.m. CT. Saturday’s contest will broadcast nationally on CBS and Paramount+. Tickets to Saturday’s postseason match can be purchased HERE.
