TEN THINGS TO KNOW
1. Kansas City leads the all-time series with Angel City at 4-3-1 and has won the last four. No team has beaten Angel City in five straight regular season meetings. The Current has out-scored Angel City 12-9 all-time, including 9-3 in the last four.
2. The last meeting between the two sides was a 1-0 Current victory in Los Angeles on Oct. 9, 2025. Forward Michelle Cooper scored the game-winning goal in the 59th minute off an assist from fellow forward Haley Hopkins.
3. The Current is coming off back-to-back shutout wins for the first time this season with a pair of 3-0 results over Chicago and Houston. Goalkeeper Lorena has been credited with both shutouts and now has 16 career regular season clean sheets, tied for the 13th-most for a single club in NWSL history.
4. Two-time defending NWSL MVP and Golden Boot winner Temwa Chawinga produced five goals last week – a hat trick on May 10 and a brace on May 15. It was the first regular season hat trick in club history, and the forward now has five career regular season multi-goal games.
5. Chawinga catapulted up to No. 3 on the Golden Boot leaderboard with five goals and one assist. She has scored at least once in 34 of her 53 career league matches (64.2%), by far the highest rate in NWSL history among players with 20 or more appearances (Sam Kerr – 48.7%).
6. Forward Michelle Cooper has dished out a team-leading three assists this year, which is tied for second in the league. She had her first career multi-assist performance on May 15 with a pair of assists, also forcing an own goal.
7. Cooper has assisted seven of Chawinga’s regular season goals since the start of the 2024 season. Most recently, Cooper fed both of Chawinga’s goals on May 15 vs. Houston. Together, Cooper and Chawinga have accounted for 50 percent of Kansas City’s goal contributions with a combined seven goals and four assists.
8. Defender Elizabeth Ball, who has been part of the starting lineup the last three matches, is one away from 80 regular season starts for Kansas City, which will be the second most in club history. Her next appearance will be her 95th for the club, tied for second in franchise history.
9. Lorena, the defending NWSL Goalkeeper of the Year, has 24 regular season wins in her career – just one away from becoming the 14th goalkeeper in league history to reach 25 with one club.
10. Midfielder Croix Bethune provided her 14th NWSL assist on May 10, the most in the league since she made her debut at the start of the 2024 season. She has averaged 0.42 assists per 90 minutes in her career, the best among players to play 3,000+ minutes in NWSL history (Tobin Heath - 0.37, Lauren Holiday - 0.37).
